Trouble with Folder Bar? Get support

Folder Bar is a Firefox add-on that gives you your own bookmarks bar at the top of every web page, built from the folders on your browser's bookmarks toolbar. Folders open like the browser's own menus, and Work and Personal profiles show only the bookmarks that belong, with a Common set that's always there.

Features

  • A bar on every page Your bookmarks toolbar folders as a bar at the top of web pages. The page moves down to make room, and so do headers that sites pin to the top. ▴ collapses it to a small tab.
  • Menus like Firefox's Subfolders open as a menu beside the folder when you point at them, and once a menu is open, pointing at another folder on the bar switches to it. Prefer clicks, or subfolders in the same list? Both are a setting away.
  • Profiles Work, Personal, or your own. Every bookmark is Common unless you put it in a profile or hide it; the bar shows Common plus the active profile, and All shows everything.
  • Edit in place Right-click a bookmark or folder on the bar to rename it, change its address or choose where it shows. Edits change the real browser bookmark.
  • Sidebar The same bookmarks as a tree with search. It works on pages the bar can't reach, like Firefox's own settings.
  • New tab page New tabs open with the bar, a search box using your default search engine, and your most visited sites.
  • Your size Sliders for the bar's height and text size, and for the spacing, text size and width of folder menus. Bookmarks that don't fit go under » or wrap onto more rows.
  • Keyboard Arrow keys move through menus, → and ← open and close subfolders, Enter opens, Esc closes.
  • Move it anywhere Export your profiles and settings to a file and import them in another browser or on another computer.

Privacy

  • Stays in your browser Profiles and settings are stored in your Firefox profile, never synced or sent anywhere.
  • Reads nothing from pages The bar draws in its own sealed layer: page styles can't change it, and it doesn't read the pages it sits on.
  • Site icons Firefox gives add-ons no access to its icon cache, so each bookmarked site's icon is downloaded from that site, without cookies, about once a week. Turn icons off for letter badges and no downloads.

Firefox doesn't let any add-on draw on its own pages (settings, add-ons, the add-on store) or on PDFs. The sidebar works there.
